K. Allison Ceramics are individually handcrafted. Please expect unique variations between each piece.
the materials
Porcelain clay, dyed porcelain slips, underglazes, glazes, nichrome wire, and lusters.
the processes
All pieces are hand-thrown on the potter’s wheel or hand-built using slab techniques or forming molds made in the K. Allison Ceramics studio. All carvings for the Birch and Charcoal Collections and form alterations for the Frenzy and Saturation Collections are completed individually by hand. Slips are dyed in-studio and hand-applied.
the firings
All pieces are bisque fired to cone 06 (1828 degrees) and glaze fired to cone 6 (2232 degrees) in an oxidation environment. Luster pieces are fired a third time to cone 018 (1319 degrees).
functional wares
While many of the designs have unglazed exteriors, all interior food surfaces use food-safe glazes suitable for both hot and cold substances.
washing recommendations
All pieces are dishwasher and microwave-safe, except those with metallic luster decoration. However, to retain the quality of each piece and ensure it lives a long life, hand-washing is recommended. A non-abrasive cloth or sponge with warm, soapy water is best.
thermal shock warning
Please help your pieces avoid the freezer and oven, as the extreme temperature changes can cause thermal shock that results in cracking or breakage.
durability
Despite its reputation for being fragile, porcelain is rated as one of the most durable clays available. K. Allison Ceramics porcelain wares can be used, enjoyed, and loved as much daily as for special occasions. Handle your new ceramics with care and you can look forward to many happy years together.

Shipping & Returns Policy
shipping policy
K. Allison Ceramics orders will ship via USPS or UPS ground. Customers are responsible for all shipping charges as shown during checkout. In the case of custom orders or orders requested via email or contact form, please supply your city and state with your initial inquiry so that we can calculate your expected shipping costs.
in-stock items
Please allow 3-5 business days for in-stock items to be packaged and shipped out from our studio. Your patience is appreciated as I am a one-woman studio.
custom and commissioned items
Made-to-order, custom, and commissioned items (all items not currently in stock) are handcrafted after the order is placed. Please allow approximately 6-12 weeks for your items to be created. If you need a piece sooner, please contact me, and I will see what I can do.
domestic shipping
Once shipped, most USPS or UPS orders arrive within 2-5 business days, but shipping times will vary depending on your location within the United States. West Coast deliveries may take a bit longer. You will receive an email confirmation and tracking number as well as a delivery estimate once your order ships.
international shipping
We currently address international requests on a case-by-case basis. In many instances it is cost-prohibitive to ship internationally at this time, but if you live outside of the United States and would like to purchase a piece, please contact me to discuss shipping options.
wholesale orders
Wholesale orders require approximately 6-12 weeks turnaround time. However, this largely depends on order size and contents as each piece is made by hand from scratch. Orders with large amounts of Birch and Charcoal take longest to complete. Orders heavy in Frenzy and Saturation may require less time. Once your order is received and reviewed, we will provide a more accurate delivery estimate. If you have a specific deadline, please indicate the requested date when placing your order and we will see what we can do. More information can be found in our wholesale catalog. Please contact me to request a copy.
return + exchange policy
K. Allison Ceramics are meant to be loved and enjoyed. We want you to be satisfied with your purchase! Please remember that our pieces are individually handcrafted and unique variations should be expected between each piece.
Please contact us within 7 days of the time your item is delivered if you need to exchange a piece for an item of equal value. Customer is responsible for all return shipping charges and any new shipping charges incurred. Please note that K. Allison Ceramics are made in small batches and are often one-of-a-kind, so there may not be an exchange available. In that case, we will offer you a credit or refund your item, excluding all shipping charges.
return + exchange shipping
Items approved for exchange must be returned in the same condition they were received and must be unused, and undamaged. Please use the original packaging and ensure that the item is packed carefully and securely so that it cannot move and break during transport. Request tracking numbers and delivery confirmation for your package to ensure that it does not get lost.

***Customers are responsible for all shipping charges incurred during purchases, exchanges, or returns. These charges are non-refundable.
damaged items policy
K. Allison Ceramics packages items with great care, and damages during shipping are quite rare. If the unfortunate happens to you and your purchase arrives damaged, please email kallisonceramics@gmail.com with photos of the damaged piece(s) within 72 hours. We will gladly send a replacement if one is available. Otherwise a refund will be granted minus shipping charges. Please inspect packages carefully as we cannot replaced damaged items after 72 hours.
