Wild terrain orb vessel, small 12

4.25h x 5.25w x 2.75w at opening

Wild Terrain vessels are one-of-a-kind statement pieces that pay homage to clay's earthy origins and the raw beauty of the natural world. Handcrafted on the wheel using a dark California clay body, this vessel is coated with a blend of textured wild clay slips and wild clay powders from the US and Bolivia, garnets, rubies, and bricks I mined in Georgia (US), and lava rock and lava sand from Iceland, Utah, and West Virginia. This piece also has the experimental addition of all of the earthy materials I sieved out of a wild clay that I processed, giving it an even deeper connection to the depths of the earth.

My application processes are designed to create stunning visual and tactile dimension. Each vessel feels as though it was harvested directly from the Earth itself. Inspired by the various landscapes of Iceland and Bolivia that call to mind the surface of the moon.

The piece has been carefully scrubbed and sanded to ensure that all aggregates are securely adhered to the surface and to invite touch.

Glaze on the interior ensures water tightness, but due to the exterior surface this piece should be hand-washed. Please avoid the dishwasher and microwave.
