Iron floc kyusu-style teapot 16oz, left-handed

$275.00

4.25h including knob x 6w including spout x 7w including handle

A kyusu teapot is a small Japanese teapot with a side handle. It is primarily used for brewing green teas. Leaves are placed directly into the pot, and a built in strainer keeps them from exiting the spout when poured.

This kyusu features a left-handed handle and is wheelthrown and decorated with textured slips and and all over oxide wash in an homage to the vast iron flocs of Iceland. Rich red/orange deposits dot the landscape throughout the mountains, reminding me of the very clay with which I form my pots. It has been sanded to a finish that begs to be touched.

Handwashing is recommended.
